Welcome to CFCMA
The Centre de formation et de consultation en métiers d’art (CFCMA) is an institution affiliated with the Cégep Limoilou to organize and supervise the career program in Craft and Design Technical Program (Techniques de métiers d’art) in Quebec City.
Craft and Design Techniques is a 3-year career program that enables its graduates to enter the workforce or to pursue their own career.
The program offers lessons, lectures and training in actual workshops with the supervision of professional craft artists.
Objectives of the program:
- Development of technical skills;
- Development of creativity and individual artistic signature;
- Development of financial and entrepreneurial skills.
Students have to choose between these specialities:
- Textiles or Fibre Arts;
- Wood Working;
- Violin making;
- Guitar making.
The CFCMA works in association with specialised schools to facilitate the development of technical skills in workshop environments.
The program leads to a Diploma of College Studies (DCS) from the province of Quebec (DEC Diplôme d’études collégiales).
Lectures and workshop training are done in French.
It is possible for out-of-province Canadian citizens, permanent residents and for candidates from outside of Canada to apply to the program, although all candidates must pass an international French language test (Test de français international – TFI).
